The Rally has occurred 76% of the time (34 of 45 years) with an average rise of 1.4%.* The first 5 days of the Santa Claus Rally period were down, and it was going to take a couple of very good days to turn the Santa Claus Rally positive.** Sure enough, the last two days were very good turning the indices positive, though below average:
